In redesigning IMDb's visual branding, my goal was to transform it into a comprehensive hub, bridging the gap between aspiring filmmakers and industry professionals. The new branding system is aimed to refresh the company's image, catering to a target audience of young film enthusiasts, students, and emerging filmmakers. Drawing from personal experiences with friends in film, I was inspired by their challenges in connecting with industry professionals. This rebrand focuses on fostering connections by clearly communicating industry information and introducing an organized social media style, creating a visually engaging experience tailored to my intended audience






Logo
The new logo draws inspiration from the different aspect ratios used in film. The ending lock up of the aspect ratio is 1920 x 1080, which is the size footage is mostly seen as.

Graphical Elements/Textures
The gradient “cover” conveys the sense of a folded cheat sheet, combined with the use of corners in aspect ratios to give spotlight to its content. Complimented with a line grid to visualize organization though print and platforms.
